The Nollywood movie scene is more vibrant than ever. That said, there has been an increased interest in Nigerian movies both at home and abroad. Therefore, Weekend Magazine has compiled a list for movie-goers to keep an eye out for, as they hit the big screen

The Royal Hibiscus Hotel

Following the success of the web series ‘The King Women,’ Adetiba saw the potential and made the move to make a movie project out of it. By the look of it, the risk was one worth taking

Lion Heart

Genevieve’s directorial debut should be something to look forward to after being accustomed to seeing her in front of the camera instead of behind it. In her new movie Lion Heart, she has gathered many notable names in the Nollywood scene such as Steve Eboh, Pete Edochie, Kanayo O Kanayo, OnyekaOnwenu, NkemOwoh, Jemima Osunde, Yakubu Mohammed and Sani Muazu. With big names like Kate Henshaw, Jemima Osunde, Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Wale Ojo, Falz and Bikiya Graham-Douglasin the mix and after the success of ‘My Wife and I,’ it’s safe to assume that the movie will be worth going to the cinema for.

Lara and the Beat

This upcoming movie claims to be “Nollywood’s most glamorous and thrilling movie yet.” After the success of ‘Banana Island Ghost’ last year, the new sequel portrays the Giwa sisters right in the center of a financial scandal with their late parent’s empire.
