Ajimobi laments poor value system in Nigeria

Oyo State governor, stressing that people with good morals and integrity should participate fully in politics to engender good governance

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr Festus Adedayo said in a statement in Ibadan on Tuesday that the governor also urged them to encourage their members to participate actively in politics in order to promote good governance and good citizenry.

 

The governor was said to have gave the charge while speaking at the presentation of Lion Yinka Bolarinwa as the District 404B Governor in Ikeja, Lagos on Monday, charged non-governmental organizations and social clubs to contribute their quota to the development and change the wrong perception of some people about politics.

 

While stressing the need to attach great importance to service to humanity and the need to cater for the less-privileged, Ajimobi said social clubs could better achieve their objectives when they have their members in government.

 

He particularly said that organizations like the Lions Club should encourage their members to contribute their quota to the development and change the wrong perception of some people about politics.

Ajimobi, while highlighting some of the achievements of his administration in the last two years, said it had not relented in its efforts at improving the living conditions of the people through the provision of infrastructural facilities to all parts of the state.

 

Speaking on the topic: “The Impact of Service and Ethics to the Survival of a Nation, a former Secretary of Health”, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi called on the club to initiate the process for the resuscitation of value system and ethics of the Nigerian society.The new District Governor, Lion Yinka Bolarinwa was later presented to the public, while a three-storey multipurpose building built by the club was also inaugurated by Gov. Ajimobi.
