Senator Adesoji Akanbi empowers his constituents

As part of his efforts to delivering dividends of democracy to members of his senatorial district, Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi [SOJ] representing Oyo South senatorial district has empowered his constituents with cash to help in expanding their businesses.

The occasion which took place at the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC at Oke Ado, Ibadan had in attendance the deputy state chairman of the party, Mr. Isiaka Adisa, state woman leader, Mrs. Serah Williams and other state excos. While appreciating the people for the confidence reposed in him during the 2015 general elections, Senator Akanbi stated that it was their collective efforts that made him a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria. Senator Akanbi explained that, giving back to his constituents is a way of appreciating them for the unwavering support towards his emergence as a senator and also to fulfil his promise of adequate representation.

The empowerment programme which is expected to cut across the nine local government areas of the district started with Ibadan South West local government area.

As a representative of the people, Senator Akanbi told the mammoth crowd that he has delivered their message against cattle colony noting that there is no land in his district and in Oyo state for grazing. The Senator who noted that cattle rearing is a private business, advised cattle owners to look for land wherever they may find to graze rather than compelling people to give out their land for grazing.

While fielding questions from journalists, Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi declared himself a steward who is accounting for his stewardship with the life changing programmes he has so far initiated across Oyo south senatorial district. The revere senator expressed appreciation with his performance so far despite the fact that, he has spent over two years in office.

He promised to use the remaining one year to keep on initiating programmes that will be of immense benefits to the people of Oyo South senatorial district.

';';For me it';s not about joy, it';s about glory to Almighty God. I';m more of a steward and what I';m doing is accounting for my stewardship. I believe I';m just like seventy five percent of my assignment in four years programme. We are running into third term we still have about a year left. I have to wait till the end of my tenure to actually sit and do the assessment. So far so good, I';m happy with what I';m doing';';

On the activities of Fulani herdsman across the country, Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi stated that any herdsman going about with weapon while rearing cattle is no longer a herdsman but a terrorist. He condemned in strong terms the activities of herdsmen who have carried out gruesome killings of innocent and armless Nigerians.

Some of the beneficiaries of the empowerment programmes were Yemi Taiwo, Ibrahim babalola, Kazeem, Salaudeen, Bolanle and lots more.

 

 

Senator Akanbi commissions solar powered borehole at Ogunpa market

In another development, it was a plethora of joy for the traders in Ogunpa market, Ibadan South West local government area, Oyo state as Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi commissioned an ultra-modern solar powered borehole in the market.

The project which was described as first of its kind in the area was donated by Senator Akanbi to traders in Ogunpa market and its environs in a bid to cater for their water need after so many years of reliance on Well water.

In his speech, the highly respected senator appreciated the people for their unrelenting support and prayers during his election in 2015 noting that it was their votes that made him the senator representing Oyo south senatorial district.

While appealing to the traders to be patient with the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari especially in the area of fuel scarcity, the senator assured the people of the government’s effort to ensure regular supply of petrol across the country. He also used the medium to inform them of his stance against cattle colony being the message they sent him to deliver at the upper chamber.

Furthermore, the outspoken senator stated that he doesn';t believe in blaming the past administration despite their failure to manage the country';s resources very well rather, he strongly believes in taking and accepting responsibilities which was one of the reasons Nigerians voted for change in 2015 general elections.

One of the elders in the market who has been in Ogunpa market for the past thirty years, Alhaji Wasiu expressed appreciation to the senator for giving them a major source of water. While commending Senator Akanbi, Alhaji Wasiu stated that several elected leaders had in the past promised them similar project but failed to fulfil their promise.

Other members of the market who spoke to our reporter included the chairman of Ogunpa market, Mr. Wasiu Adisa Olalekan, the general secretary, Mr. Adekunle Akeem, a prominent member of the market, Mrs. Olaniyi Alaba. They all thanked Senator Akanbi for displaying high level of exemplary leadership through the donation of the solar powered borehole to traders in the market. They pray for more grace upon Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi.
