NIGERIA (Nasarawa)- The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Damishi Lika-Barau, has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress, (APC) on Monday.

This was made known to journalists by the state Interim Chairman of the party, Standly Buba, in Lafia, adding that the suspension was credited to a recent interview he granted  journalists in Abuja.

“The party faulted Luka-Barau over his comment in faulting the decision of the National Executive members of the party that its members at the national assembly should not sign any bill sent by the president. Why is he as a member of the party going against the decision of the national leadership of the same party that brought him to power,” Mr. Buba asked.

He added that the decision to suspend Mr. Luka-Barau came from the deputy governor’s own ward, Ningo, in Akwanga Local Government Area.

He explained that the state interim committee members first received a letter from the interim executives of Mr. Luka-Barau’s ward, stating the ward’s decision to suspend the deputy governor from the party.

Mr Buba then promised that the truth of the matter shall soon be unraveled by the executives of the party.

“If the outcome of the committee indicts Luka-Barau, we will not have any other option than to expel him from the party,” he said.

Report indicated that the Deputy Governor is currently in America on an official assignment.
