
NIGERIA (Plateau)-Not less than twenty-two people were reportedly killed yesterday in Mavo, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State when gunmen invaded the village.
The suspects, according to what CEOAFRICA gathered, stormed the community around 2:00 a.m and caused pandemonium with many people injured.
The motive for the attack could not be immediately ascertained, but there had been skirmishes among communities in the local government for some time now.
Speaking about the incident, the Wase Local Government Interim Administrator, Zakari Haruna, confirmed the attack, although he added that the situation has been put under control.
Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Felicia Anslem confirmed the attack, but said she was yet to get the details.
This latest attack came less than 48 hours after gunmen attacked some communities in Riyom Local Government Area, leaving about 30 people dead with no arrest made by security agencies.
