The newly matriculated students of Chrisland University, Owode, Abeokuta have been charged to see the university as the perfect avenue to develop their full potentials for independent living when they finally graduate.

This charge was made by Prof. Oladapo Walker at the 3rd matriculation ceremony of Chrisland University held at the main auditorium of the university.

Prof. Walker who was the guest speaker at the event informed the matriculants that, the university is a platform where young people build up their skills based on what they have acquired before coming into the university.

He said'' the university is expected to give you the opportunity to acquire all that you need for independent living. This is because the university is a platform where young people build up their skills based on what they have acquired before coming into the university''.

The former World Health Organization (WHO) ex-officer further enjoined students not to keep bad friends as well as make good use of technological innovation especially the use of social media.

Prof. Walker who stated that social media has its good effects noted that, it has also ruined the lives of many young people because it contains information that can destroy everything one has worked for. ''I stand here to tell you that the internet is great. That is one side of the story. But I can also tell you in the same breath that it is a very dangerous tool. It contains information you do not want to see. It contains information that will destroy you and all that you have worked hard for. Therefore, I will enjoin, you stick to the strict principles by which your parents brought you up and use the media only for your work and for advancing the cause for which you came into the university''.

Continuing, the guest speaker also admonished the new students to pick up a hobby siting few people who have made breakthrough in life through the hobbies they picked up while they were in the university. In his words, '' please also pick up a hobby. In the university, students pick up photography, painting, piano and keyboard playing. I know of a public health specialist who is now specializing in public health photography. He is making tons of money from his hobby. There is another public health specialist who is a good communicator a hobby he picked up in Babcock University. Today his hubby has turned him into a communication executive in one of the biggest companies in this country.''

While congratulating the parents for the support given to their children so far, the erudite professor also stated that, they should be proud that their children were admitted into Chrisland University because according to him the vision of the university as clearly stated will distinguish it from others. '' I want to congratulate you for supporting your children to come to Chrisland University. Please be proud that your young people are in Chrisland University. When I read the vision of the Vice Chancellor and the vision of the sponsors of this university with whom I have had discussions, I am impressed. If they continue to press on with their ideas, this will turn out to be a great university.''
