NIGERIA (Ogun)-Christians have been urged to participate in the governance of the nation and come out of the impression that politics is a dirty game, knowing that part of their religious duty is to vote and be voted for.

This was said by the convener of Christian Leadership Mobilization Initiative, Pastor Niyi Ojedokun while addressing the South West Executives of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Youth Wing (YOWICAN) at the zone’s quarterly meeting held at the CAN office, Ogun State.

He encouraged Christian youths champion the vanguard for Christian in politics so as to promote the fear of God in the mind of leader.

According to him “it is instructive to note that if Christians do not rise to the task of restructuring the Nigerian polity, the political terrain will continue to bring up what we do not like and we will have no reason to complain as we have refused to take part.”

He further encouraged the youths to know that is time to elect credible Christians who will not go there to disgrace, disappoint or disrepute the name of God as we should understand that “the integrity of man is measured by their conduct, not by their professions”.

In his response the chairman of YOWICAN South-West, Mr. Busuyi Bayedo, commended the initiative as timely, “I want the Christian youth not to ignore the call to serve and I want Christians to come out during election especially in Osun and Ekiti that is coming up this year and vote for credible Christian aspirants irrespective of the party.”
