It is undoubtedly true that leaders are elected to serve as representatives of the masses in their different elected positions. But this sole responsibility of leaders has almost hit the rock especially when making reference to elected members of the legislative arm of government in the country.
However, for the member representing Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Urban Development and Regional Planning, Hon. Temitope Olatoye popularly known as Sugar has resuscitated this responsibility of productive representation through some of his life transforming programmes which he has thus far initiated across not just in his constituency alone but across the nooks and crannies of the Pace Setter State.
Through his foundation, the Olatoye Sugar Foundation (OSF), lots of lives have been touched and transformed in the areas of empowerment through ICT training, Farmers/Youths agricultural training, provision of infrastructural facilities such as roads, schools et cetera, provision of free medical services among others.
Most touching is the weekly provision of free health care services to thousands of people in Oyo State under the programme tagged: OSF Free Health Care Mission. This programme has seen over ten thousand people benefitting from free health care services thus liberating them from different ailments that have rendered some of them disabled or restless for years.
CEOAfrica reporter who spoke to some of the beneficiaries of this weekly programme of Hon. Sugar have these to say about the man everyone describes as the man of the people.
RAFIU ADEAGBO
Mr. Rafiu Adeagbo was said to have been blind for more than a decade. ‘’Sugar is my benefactor, he has restored my sight at my old age, may God continue to uphold him.’’
KAFILA ADERIRAN
Kafila Adeniran is from Ibadan South West Local Government Area of the State whose son was operated of hernia. ''I came here because of my son who had hernia for about sixteen years. We've been to the hospital on several occasions without any forthcoming solution until those that have been here told us about Hon. Sugar Olatoye and that is why we are here. They attended to us. I am so excited. All I can say is that God will keep taking him higher in life. He will never live a life of vanity because this is exactly what our leaders ought to do.''
ROFIAT AGUNBIADE
Rofiat Agunbiade is from Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State whose son of over two years old was also operated of hernia. '' We came here when we heard that Hon. Sugar Olatoye is offering free medical services to the masses and we have now received favour from Hon. Sugar. It is my prayer that God will continue to increase him. I really appreciate him for this great favour he has rendered to me and my family''.
ZAINAB
Zainab who expressed her feeling in Hausa language appreciated Hon. Olatoye Sugar for offering free medical service that has led to the restoration of her sight which has lingered for about ten years.
WASIU
For Wasiu, it was a case of victory at last as he was operated of lump over eight years around his waist. '' I thank Hon. Sugar for the great things he is doing especially the operation performed on me without collecting a dime. God will continue to raise him higher in all his life endeavours.''
RUFIATU ADEBAYO
Mrs. Adebayo had her sight restored after three years. '' I can now see. Sugar will definitely get to wherever he deems fit to get to. All the good plans of God for his life will he experience and enjoy. He will continue to be loved and anyone who plans evil against him shall die on the way. His children will not die untimely.''
