NIGERIA (Gombe)--Victims of the 2012 flood which ravaged Wuro-Dulo community of Akko local government Area of Gombe State, have appealed to state government to provide them with land to resettle.

The community leader, Malam Adamu Wuro- Dulo, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday.

He said after the disaster, the inhabitants of the area had been living in rented apartments in Lawanti, a nearby town.

Wuro-dulo said 71 households received some assistance from the National Emergency Management Agency and state government, but that no land was given to them for resettlement.

“We collectively contributed N800,000, bought plot of land and gave to 17 households, but the remaining 54 households are still stranded.

“Even some of us that started building new houses, later discovered that the plots were not adequate; we want government to redeem its promise to provide us with plots of land,” he pleaded.

NAN recalled that the flood that occurred in the area, destroyed all houses in the community, while many animals also died.

The residents were first camped at a primary school in the area, before they started renting houses in Lawanti town.
