NIGERIA (Oyo)- The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission in Oyo State, Godwin Ogagaogene, has affirmed the deadline for the new number plates while advising road users in the state to drive with care whenever they are on the road.

He said this during an exclusive interview with CEOAFRICA correspondent in his office, adding that motorists should remember that life has no duplicate, hence the reason they must drive with caution.

The Commander described his job of ten years in Oyo State as demanding, but it has been interesting due to enormous task involved.

He analyzed various means deployed by the corps in ensuring safety of lives by road users which include Operation Sanity, Speed Reduction Program, use of helmet and lots more. Public enlightenment programs are in place for churches, mosques and traditional religion.

He applauded the effort of the state government and non-governmental organization for collaborating with the corps in bringing safety to our roads.

“We partner with other agencies on safety of our road, providing helmet for motorcyclists, alarm buttons to caution drivers from sleeping on the wheel, and many more,” he added.

According to him, other security agencies have been of great help as they work together like one family, while expecting more cooperation from them to make the state accident free.

He appealed that the state government should assist the corps with provision of ambulances, trucks to move broken vehicles on the roads and to improve in it services.
