Ogunsakin Takes Over From Mbu

Police Commissioner Tunde Ogunsakin who was in charge of the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), in Lagos will take over this week from Mbu Joseph Mbu as the new Rivers State Commissioner of Police.

Mbu had been criticized for taking sides in the Rivers State political crisis, which has pitched Governor Rotimi Amaechi against the Presidency. Many Civil society groups, and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), the National Assembly and other concerned Nigerians have repeatedly called for Mbu’s redeployment until he was eventually redeployed to Abuja last week.

Ogunsakin attended L.A Primary School, Ikere-Ekiti, Annunciation College, Ikere-Ekiti. The University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he graduated in 1980 with a degree in Political Science/History. He enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1982.
