NIGERIA (Kaduna)- The Executive Chairman of  the Kaduna State Board of Internal Revenue, Alhaji Muhammad  Tanko has said that private schools, hospitals, eateries and Federal institutions numbering about 200 shall be closed down across the state for failure to settle their taxes and other necessary levies.

While speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna, Tanko, therefore, directed the organisations to settle their levies within seven days or be closed.

According to him, a total of N18 billion was lost by the state government as revenue in 2013 and to avoid a reoccurrence of such, drastic effort is being taken to recover them in 2014.

“Although we have 70 revenue generating MDAs, the board and the state Ministry of Land are the two major revenue sources in the state.’’

Tanko said the ministry had taken measures to boost its revenue generation, adding that the state government would reinforce its revenue machinery to improve its generation.

“We will also work with the legislators to ensure that relevant laws are initiated to replace obsolete ones to enhance revenue generation.

“We will enhance revenue collections at various levels, to enable the state government to implement the budget as planned.”
