88 outgoing corpers in Oyo state on Tuesday got the reward of dedication and selflessness to serve their community as the Wife of the Executive Governor of Oyo state, Mrs Florence Ajimobi promised to give them employment under one of her pet projects, Educate A Rural child (ERC), if they are willing to stay in Oyo state and continue the work they had been doing in encouraging rural pupils

The lucky corpers were volunteers under the ERC project, put in place by the first lady to bridge the gap between the quality of education available to rural children and their counterparts in urban areas of the state Mrs. Ajimobi also promised that incoming corp members that volunteer to go to rural areas and work with ERC will get stipends monthly from the ERC in addition to their state allowances in recognition of their selflessness and willingness to help other people to be better individuals

She stated that the purpose of recruiting corpers under the ERC to interface with children, parents and teachers in rural areas has been achieved as the outgoing ERC vanguards have been able to drive home the ERC message by encouraging students to have a good attitude towards education

“I celebrate these wonderful young men and women who took the bold step to become the proud initiators of the ERC vanguard. This group of corp members did not follow the path left by others but looked for where there is no path and left a trail.

“My dear corp members, you have lived up to the anthem of the NYSC which enjoins you to obey the clarion call to serve with dedication and selflessness. You have served Oyo state and indeed Nigeria well by engaging in community development activities through the ERC vanguard and posterity will surely not forget you,” Mrs  Ajimobi said

She concluded by thanking them and wishing them well. “I say thank you and I wish you all the best in all your undertakings now and in the future and if by any chance any one of you has found a reason to make Oyo state his or her home, I welcome you to a new lease of life in the pacesetter state as you partake of the wave of change currently sweeping across the state.”
