Ahmed Ibrahim, the former minister in the Muammar Gaddafi government has been sentenced to death for his role in inciting citizens in Sirte to hold back the protest against Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 rebellion.

CEOAFRICA gathered that a court in the Libyan city of Misrata found Ahmed guilty of undermining national security and murder plot against civilians and therefore condemned to execution by firing squad.

The high-ranking member of the much feared “revolutionary committees” group of regime loyalist was said to have been apprehended in Sirte, Gaddafi’s hometown.

It has been however noted that while Libyan authorities are keen to see Gaddafi's family and loyalists punished for their support of his 42-year rule, human rights activists have raised concerns about whether the legal proceedings meet international standards.
