As Nigerian Workers join their counterpart across the world to celebrate 2018 Worker’s Day, a member of National Assembly, Hon. Dr. Olatoye Temitope Sugar has felicitated with the entire members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and its counterpart Trade Union Council (TUC) on the occasion of this year May Day.
The lawmaker representing Lagelu-Akinyele Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abuja also drummed support for the implementation of the New Minimum Wage for the Nigerian Workers.
The Chairman, House Committee on Urban and Regional Development described Nigerian workers as dedicated, committed hardworking people who truly love their father land saying this is demonstrated in their doggedness to serve the nation.
Speaking in a congratulatory message issued and signed which made available to newsmen by the Senior Special Adviser on Media to Hon. Sugar, Dr. Olatunde Amusat, Hon Sugar congratulated the entire workforce in the country for the opportunity to witness another Workers Day celebration.
The lawmaker maintained that, workers are the engine for the nation saying Nigeria still exists because the nation’s workers remained committed to their duties in and out of season.
Hon. Sugar assured the Nigerian workers of his unflinching support towards speedy passage of the new minimum wage when it comes to the floor of the National Assembly for approval.
The federal lawmaker who is the founder and Chairman of Olatoye Sugar Foundation, an organization the renders philanthropic services for the masses noted that Nigerian workers at both state and federal levels deserve increment in their wages because of the state economy of the nation. He however urged the Nigerian workers to continue doing the works for the nation through diligent, hardworking and relentless service at all times.
May 1st of every year has been set aside by the United Nations and other International Bodies to celebrates Workers across the world.
