The recent Kano State bomb blasts have demonstrated an urgent need for Nigerians to step up vigilance in order to prevent future terrorist attack.

Dr. Ona Ekhomu, the President of the Association of Industrial Security and Safety Operators of Nigeria, made this statement on Wednesday, adding that Nigerians should face reality with a resolute mind to develop initiatives that would fight the surging terror.

He pointed out that the 45 lives lost in the Kano bombings could have been saved if the government authorities and other well meaning Nigerians had stepped up the security strategies.

The security expert further submit that the government should urgently develop a program that could be called ‘State Improvised Explosive Device Prevention Initiative’ which will serve as educative program to raise the consciousness of the people about the terrorist attacks pre-incident indicators, to enroll citizens in the fight against terrorism.

He further urged the security agencies to concentrate on rapid response to calls for service while the State Improvised Explosive Device Prevention Initiative Volunteers would help to detect potential bombers and communicate the security agencies.
