Yaba Chief Magistrates’ has been informed that, the legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), over the trial of a Denmark Citizen Peter Nielsen who allegedly murdered his wife Zainab Nielsen and daughter Petra Nielsen to be moved to the High Court has been issued.

The officer in charge of legal department at Panti Mr Effiong Asuquo said that the DPP, gave an approval for his trial at the High Court.

The legal advice reads ‘‘I am directed to acknowledge receipt of your letter with reference number CB: 3514/ LSX/ D4/ Volume 5/ 11, dated 14 April 2018. And the accompanying duplicate case file forwarded to this office for legal advice. After carefully considering the facts available in the duplicate case file, this office is of the considered opinion that a prima facie case of murder contrary to Sections 223, of the criminal law CH. C17. Vol 3 Laws of Lagos State, 2015, exists against the suspect page B1, Peter Nielsen.”

Asuquo a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), therefore asked the court for a further remand in other for the prosecution to be able to conclude investigation and to file all the necessary processes before the State High Court.

However Magistrate, Mrs. Kikelomo Ayeye further remanded the Danish to prison custody to enable the police and the state to file his charges before the State High Court.

According to the prosecutor, the offences are contrary to and punishable under section 223 of the criminal laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2015. The matter has been adjourned till June 28, for mention.

The defendant was accused of committing the offences on the April 5, 2018, at his residence at Bella Vista Tower, Banana Island, Ikoyi. At the last adjourned date on April 11, the court had ordered the remand of Nielsen, 53, to Ikoyi Prisons.

Nielsen, a Danish citizen, was brought before the court on a two count charge bordering on murder.

Though, this charge was read to him but his plea was not taken.
