The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, has confirmed the murder of a cigarette seller simply identified as MM by suspected cultists for allegedly refusing to sell cigarettes to them.
CEOAfrica gathered that the seller was shot in the head today in his shop at Gaa Akanbi area of Ilorin, Kwara State by one of the suspected cultists.
Report says the fleeing suspects had stormed the cigarette seller’s shop to buy cigarette.
They added that the gang members were enraged when the trader told them that he had no cigarette, even when one of them pointed to a cigarette pack in the shop.
They stated that MM told the suspected cultists that the remaining cigarette pack had been paid for by someone and that he could not accept money for it again.
They stated that the suspects were enraged when the trader told them that the buyer was on his way to collect it.
One of the suspects reportedly shot the cigarette seller on the head, and then entered the shop and took the pack of the cigarette while the victim was in the throes of death.
