Mozambique President, Armando Guebuza
If report reaching CEOAFRICA.com from Maputo, the capital of Mozambique is anything to go by, then parliamentary and presidential elections will hold in the country on October, 2014
According to a statement issued by the President Armando Guebuza, the election will hold on 15 October, 2014 for Mozambicans living in their country, but 12 October is for Mozambicans in diasporas.
The reason why the dates were different was because in Mozambique, election day is public holiday, but in other countries, it is on a working day. 15 October 2014 is a Wednesday, and 12 October is Sunday. It is hoped that holding election in diasporas on Sunday will greatly increase turnout.
The Country’s electoral body, National Electoral Commission (CNE) had earlier proposed these dates, and with the statement from the president, it has been approved.
