Lawmaker representing Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency and Chairman House Committee on Urban Development and Regional Planning, founder of Olatoye Sugar Foundation (OSF), Honorable Olatoye Temitope Sugar has assured Nigerians of a better future in the country.
He made this known on Tuesday May 29th while speaking on a program ‘‘LOTUNLOTUN’’ at the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) to commemorate the 19th Democracy day celebration of Nigeria.
Honorable Sugar said ‘‘the 1999 constitution has made Nigeria a better place because it allows peoples’ participation in the running of the government and even permits free media operations without threats unlike the military days of Abacha and other military rulers. The constitution enables investors both home and abroad to operate without threats and this has contributed immensely to the growth of Nigeria.’’
While assessing the activities of the 8th National Assembly, Honorable Sugar said ‘‘they are the best ever.’’ He emphasized that they are to checkmate the Federal Government and to enact people-oriented laws for the country, which they have been doing.
Hon. Sugar lamented at the degrading state of Nigeria’s economy. He said the economy has been bad even before the present government assumed leadership and that is why all forms of social- ills are thriving in Nigeria.
He identified hunger and unemployment as the major reasons for violence in the country. According to him “an idle man is the devil’s workshop which has caused many to be involved in all forms of business for survival.”
Honorable Olatoye Sugar while speaking with CEOAfrica disclosed his personal efforts in eradicating poverty form Oyo State.
“I am trying my best to eradicate poverty from this state. By the grace of God, I have empowered so many youths, widows and many more. I have over 100 Personal Assistants which I employed and are being paid.
In fact, the reason why garri is cheap in our state today is as a result of my concerted efforts because I am into farming. I contacted some of my colleagues who are into cassava planting, so we decided to produce garri in numerous quantities and that is why the price has drastically reduced because there has been surplus supply of garri in the State.
Also, I have singlehandedly carried out so many projects all over the State, people are enjoying free medical services through Olatoye Sugar Foundation (OSF) every week and I still have many projects in mind to execute.”
Hon. Sugar however, called on the Federal Government to fulfill their promises of employment, provision of social amenities, reduction in the price of petrol etc.
He also urged Nigerians to vote for the right leaders come 2019 in order to make Nigeria a better place.
