The Oyo State Secretary of All Progressive congress (APC), Honorable Mojeed Olaoye has traced the defeat witnessed by the party at the just concluded Ibarapa East State Constituency bye-election to the rift between the two towns in Ibarapa East.

He made this known on Wednesday during an exclusive interview with CEOAfrica correspondent in his office at Ibadan where he explained that the defeat is as a result of problem that exists between Eruwa and Lanlate.

“There is an internal crisis between the two towns and Eruwa has the highest number of population geo-politically. So if they are to contest, it is generally expected that Eruwa is likely to win, besides, Lanlate presented two candidates which divided their votes. The people of Eruwa voted for their candidate regardless of his party because they do not want to be dominated by Lanlate,” he said.

Hon. Olaoye affirmed that the election was not rigged. He said “it was a free and fair election.”

He revealed that a reconciliatory committee has been set up in APC and they will start working very soon.
