The Senior Advocate of Nigeria as well as the guber aspirant of All Progressive Congress (APC) Chief Adeniyi Akintola has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the conferment of the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) which is the highest title in Nigeria on the presumed winner of June 12, 1993 Presidential election, Late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola(MKO) and for declaring June 12 as democracy day.

Akintola on Monday while speaking with CEOAFRICA said “it is a welcome development; in fact I have made a release in newspapers commending Mr. President. Some of us put our lives on the line for democracy to be put in place. I was detained 5 times in Aleshinloye over June 12 and even at the detention camp in Alalubosa.I, Gbenga Awosode and Moshood Erubami were the three people holding the state by the jugular then so, it is a kind of vindication, I am particularly thrilled and happy.”

Chief Akintola while commenting on whether INEC should be enforced to declare MKO as the winner before any other thing said “Let us appreciate good thing when we see one, that he has even started is something we should commend. Seek ye first the kingdom of political powers and every other thing will follow.
A Yoruba adage says “If you want to eat the intestine of an animal, you will ask for the liver, let us appreciate what he has done first then other things will follow. After 25 years, I am delighted; I slept very well that night, incidentally, I was with Asiwaju Tinubu, in fact, top officials in APC South West were aware before the information was made public."
