The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of eight members of a dreaded cult group known as Yan Sara Suka, after they vandalized over 15 vehicles.
The destruction happened on Sunday at Bauchi Road, Nasarawa Gwom and Congo Russia, areas of Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
Sources said that there was a serious tension in the areas mostly inhabited by Hausa and Fulani as a result of a clash between leaders of two rival cult groups.
But it was another sad tale as four persons were killed by gunmen in separate attacks between Saturday and Sunday by yet-to-be-identified assailants.
Three persons, including a butcher identified as Baba Likita, were killed in Arangai village close to the orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps in Mangu LGA.
While the butcher and the two other men from Ampang West in Mangu LGA were killed on Saturday, another casualty was recorded on Sunday at the Fan District of Barkin Ladi, where one person was killed at Ktachudu Village.
Likita was said to have been buried according to Islamic rites.
The spokesperson for the Special Military Taskforce codenamed Operation Safe Haven, Major Umar Adams, said the victim of the Sunday attack was ambushed and slaughtered by 9:00pm.
The spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, Matthias Tyopev, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said that the cult members who destroyed vehicles had confessed to the crime and were assisting security agencies in their investigation.
