An Ibadan renowned property business magnate, Mogaji Agunleyinju Alekuso,Beere,Ibadan as well as the founder of Akin Fagbemi Foundation, Dr. Akintomide Fagbemi has condemned in entirety the continuous and recently enhanced massacres of innocent Nigerians across the different states especially in the Northern States of Plateau,Benue,Nasarawa and Adamawa.
Dr. Fagbemi, who is also the Chairman of Medical and Heath Workers' Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) laments at the failure of the Federal Government –who is constitutionally and basically saddled with the singular responsibility of providing adequate security for the lives and properties of all Nigerians.
Contrary to the general belief that the victims of the recent dreadful homicides in Plateau State were cattle rustlers who suffered retaliation attacks from heavily armed herdsmen, Comrade Fagbemi opined that a vast number of the victims were innocent people who were on transit to Plateau State to pursue their personal and legitimate businesses.
Meanwhile, Fagbemi asked President Muhammadu Buhari, The Commander –in-chief of armed forces to step up and introduce more active rather to prevent the reoccurrence of such militia killings which could lead to the total breakdown of law and order or even degenerate to a catastrophe of enormous proportions.
He counseled the President to consider an immediate restructuring of Service Chiefs and leadership of other Para-military security gadgets for efficient delivery and management of intelligence capable of prevention the unwarranted massacre across the country.
In the same vein, Mogaji Fagbemi channeled a clarion call to all religious leaders, traditional leaders and community heads of the affected states. He encouraged then to preach peace and stimulate mutual understanding between their respective followers and those who hold other beliefs.
Comrade Akin Fagbemi however sympathized with the family, people and governments of the affected states and prayed for God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable losses.
May the soul of those departed rest in perfect eternal peace.
