After a comprehensive presentation at the public hearing on ‘Nigeria Council for Food Science and Technology (Establishment, etc.) Bill, 2017’ at the National assembly on Monday July 9, 2018, The National Assistant Secretary of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi commended the French President, Mr. Emmanuel Macron for giving credence on the call for youth involvement in partisan and participatory politics and for approving a grant of $475 million to support the government and the people of Nigeria.

Dr. Akin Fagbemi who contested and won as the Assistant National Secretary of NIFST few months ago was part of a major team of renowned scientists, technocrats and professionals of the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and other regulatory agencies who were engaged in a serious and heated debate over the establishment of the Nigeria Council for Food Science and Technology.

Interestingly, the Executive Bill have been passed by the House of Representatives and had also passed the 1st and 2nd hearings which went in favour of the establishment of the Council after due persistence by Dr.Fagbemi and his team of intellectual professionals.

In his brief remarks, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Distinguished Senator (Prof.) Robert Ajayi Boroface OON, guaranteed that the Senate would expedite actions to see to the swift passage of the Bill into law.

Among other significance, the prayer of the Bill seeks to tackle and eradicate food insecurity and ensure safety of food and other related products in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Fagbemi seized the opportunity to appeal to all senators and other key players to support the political aspirations of capable Nigerian Youths who are apparently doing exploits in their chosen fields and professions.

Having attained this feat, it is modest to say Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi would certainly not be absorbed by the fear of first timer in the National Assembly if given the opportunity to represent the good people of Oyo State.

Dr.Fagbemi however heartily congratulates the National President of NIFST, Dr. Dahiru Adamu and all NIFTERS in Nigeria.
