The FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, has approved the conversion of farmlands at Chibiri and Pasali villages along Kuje-Gwagwalada road to residential plots.

Bello, who was represented yesterday by the Director of Urban and Regional Planning, Mrs. Chinyere Patience Umeh, said the policy decision during a stakeholders’ meeting at Kuje town hall. In attendace were the village chiefs of Pasali, Chibiri, Gomo of Kuje, chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdullahi D. Galadima, and some officials of the FCDA.

He said the minister’s approval to redesign and convert the farmlands to a residential layout was for the purpose of expansion of the town to accommodate increasing population in the area.

Alhaji Abdullahi D. Galadima , the chairman of the council , urged the department of urban and regional planning to perfect the process to ensure it was hitch free, and pledged his support towards the implementation of the programme.

On his part, the village chief of Pasali community, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, called for inclusion of natives in the redesign process and also reminded the minister that Chibiri and Pasali communities were predominantly peasant farmers.
