Following the recommendation of the first conference on regional stabilization strategy for the areas affected by Boko Haram Insurgency held in November 2017 in N';Djamena, the commission will hold a second conference to chart a way forward for regional stabilization, resilience and recovery for the affected areas.
"These communities have had long decade of devastating impact by the Insurgency" said in the reports.
This was made known to CEOAFRICA, in a statement by Mr Lucky Mosunda, Communication Specialist, UNDP, that the strategy will reflects the different levels of engagement, from community to regional, that will be critical in efforts aimed at pursuing the goal of stabilizing the region that has witnessed crisis of global magnitude.
According to the statement, the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) and the African (AU), supported by UNDP, will host a Ministerial conference which will adopt the strategy. The Minister’s Conference will be attended by ten ministers from Members States, and will be preceded by experts’ meetings which will validate the draft strategy.

Lucky said that the Opening Ceremony of the experts’ meeting starts at 9am on 27 August 2018.
Expected to be in attendance are Amb. Nuhu Mamman, the Executive Secretary, Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC); Amb. Hadiza Mustapha, Representative of the African Union (AU) Chairperson; Dr. Musa Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Nigeria; and Dr. Samuel Bwalya, Country Director, UNDP Nigeria And the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, will declare open the Ministerial meeting on 30 August 2018.
He said that, the validation exercise will ensure that the draft strategy receives the required endorsement and adoption by the affected countries through their respective ministers, who are the 1st and 2nd Commissioners of LCBC member states.
