The South East Governors Forum (SEGF) on Sunday rose from a meeting with a demand on the Federal Government to intervene quickly and fix the deplorable state of the runway and tarmac at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
This was one of the resolutions contained in a communiqué which was read after their meeting held at the Government House, Enugu by the Chairman of SEGF and Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Umahi    Governors.
“Our demand is that the Aviation Minister should come with experts to look at the tarmac. Some of you had also travelled and on landing you see very stiff efforts being made by pilots to land. It’s not safe for our people at all. We frown at that and ask the minister to please come as a matter of urgency,” said Governor Umahi.
He added: “Also, there is a runway light recently installed but it’s as good as nothing because the brightness is not there at all. And then you have a case where no flight can land at an international airport as from 6.30pm; that’s not acceptable.
