The Nigeria Defence Academy is set to graduate over 300 cadet officers.
The information was contained in a press release issued by the NDA commandant Major Gen. Oyebade on Monday.
According to the statement, the passing out parade for the cadet of the African 65 Regular Course (Army) and 66 Regular Course (Navy and Air Force) is schedule to hold on October 6, 2018 at the NDA parade ground Afaka campus. About 365 cadets are expected to pass out from the academy- this includes 2 allied cadet from neighboring Togo and Benin Republic.
About 131 cadets of 65 Regular Course are to be commissioned into the Nigerian Army while their counterparts in the 66 Regular Course of Navy and air Force will move on to the respective services for further information training for before commissioning.
A medical assistant outreach program by the NDA will be kick start activities and for this year’s passing out parade with the academy offering free medical services to the Afaka community on September 13.
There will also be Prize giving and Beating of Retreat ceremony at the NDA parade ground on the 18th September Nat as part of activities that marking this year’s passing event. Part of the highlights of the day is the award ceremony to cadets and instructors who have distinguished themselves in the course of the training.
Jumaat prayers will be held by the Muslim Ummah at the NDA Central Mosque on Friday 21st September while Christian Faithful’s will hold an interdenominational service at the Savior’s Chapel, Ribadu cantonment.
A convocation lecture will be held for 66RC cadets at the academy offering auditorium on the 26th of September.
The Executive Vice Chairman, Chief executive Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Prof U.G Danbata is expected to be the guest speaker at the lecture.
The event will also witness the conferment of honourary degrees on eminent Nigerians like the President African Development Bank, Dr. G. A Adesina, popular businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Muhammad Indimi and former military adviser to UN, Lt. Gen. C. I Obiako.
The POP for the cadets of 65RC and 66RC will take place on Saturday October 6, at the parade ground. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammad Buhari is expected to grace the occasion while the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will be the special guest of honour.
The Commandant praised the cordial relationship between the media and the academy and prayed the bond is maintained.
The NDA which is the premier military university in Africa have so far trained over 20,000 officers since inception.
