News gathered from South Africa states that Bafana Bafana Coach Gordon Igesund has released the list of players that will face reigning African Champions Nigeria in the Nelson Mandella Challenge clash scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 14 August.

The match, according to what CEOAFRICA.com gathered, will be played at the Moses Mabida Stadium in Durban would kick-off at 20h 15.

The same squad will also prosecute the match against Burkina-Faso on Saturday, 17 August.

Speaking shortly after making his pronouncement of the players, Igesund explained the importance of the game. “We can’t lose the sight that we are playing this match for the greatest statesman that has ever lived, Madiba. Moreover, these are two formidable teams we are going to face.”

“If you look at Nigeria, they have very good players and most of them play overseas, which shows this is not going to be an easy match. But at the same time, it is a good challenge for our players having to face good side. It gives us great preparation for our crucial Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Botswana next month.” He said.

The coach handed first time call-ups to Luyolo Nomandela and Bongani Zungu of Free State Stars and Mamelodi Sundowns respectively.

Also included in the squad are Goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands, Itumelang Khune and Senzo Meyiwa, while Andile Jali of Orlando Pirates and Innocent Mdledle of Supersports United make a return to the team after a long absence and Tshepo Masilela of Kaizer Chiefs along with Thabo Matlaba of Orlando Pirates recovered from injuries to make up the list.

After the match against Nigeria, nine players will be released from the squad. Six Orlando Pirates Players would be involved in a CAF Champions League game on the same day the country will play Burkina-Faso, and foreign-based players would return to their clubs since the match against AFCON runners up did not fall on FIFA calendar.
