The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the timetable and schedule of activities for the Toro federal constituency by-election in Bauchi state.
While addressing journalists at the INEC headquarters in Bauchi on Thursday, Head of Voter Education, Mohammed Yahaya Salihu said that the commission wishes to avail all stakeholders with the dates and schedule of activities before the by-election as required by Section 76 (2) of the 1999 constitution as amended.
The by-election is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 17th as disclosed by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi earlier on Wednesday.
According to the schedule dated 29th October, 2018 signed by INEC’s acting Secretary, Okechukwu Ndeche, the Notice of election was conveyed on October 30th in line with Section 30 (3) of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.
The last day for the conduct of party primaries was November 4th, 2018 in line with section 87 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended while the last day for submission of Forms CF001,CF002 and nomination forms to INEC headquarters is November 6th 2018 in line with Section 31 (1) of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.
According to the schedule, publication of CF001 and names of nominated candidates will be on November 9th, 2018 as provided by Section 31 (3) of the 2010 Electoral Act as amended.
Submission of names and addresses of party agents to Electoral Officer will be on November 14th, 2018 in line with Section 45 (1) of the 2010 Electoral Act as amended.
Campaigns will end on November 15th, 2018 as provided by Section 99 (1) of the 2010 Electoral Act as amended.
The scheduled disclosed that election will be held on November 17th, 2018 as provided by Section 116 (1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended and Section 25 (3) of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.
