The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) has called on the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) to give tourism the figures it deserves as regards its contribution to the country’s GDP.

Director General of the NTDC, Folorunsho Coker, stated this on Monday during a media briefing with journalists in Abuja.

He said tourism is the sector that generates the highest employment in the world because it is linked to all businesses including entertainment, hospitality, food, clothing, and transportation amongst others, adding that all businesses be it big or small constitute part of tourism.

He also called on Nigerians to promote domestic tourism in order to enable the sector realize its full potentials using the new mediums of cultural expression, that is the social media.
