A huge some of 14.25 million euros has been allocated to the water, sanitation and hygiene sector of the Nigeria Economy by the European Union (EU). This information was disclosed by Kanan Nadar, the Chief of UNICEF water, sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja. According to Nadar, the amount was allocated to the sector as part of the EU support to improve sanitation, and the rate of water accessibility in the country. He said that the money would be used to execute projects in three states; Plateau, Adamawa and Ekiti, because they were rated lower than 30 percent in sanitation coverage. He however noted that the EU support to the Nigeria WASH sector had always been there for some time and that some of these states like Plateau, Ekiti and Adamawa have been benefiting from the support.
