2019 election-The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says the movement of non-sensitive materials to the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State will be concluded on Friday.

Head of Voter Education and Publicity, INEC Anambra , Mr Leo Nkedife, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Awka.

Nkedife said that the commission employed five trucks to fast track distribution of the non-sensitive materials across the 21 councils in the state.

According to him, “Given the arrangements on the ground, we will succeed in moving all the non-sensitive materials to all the local government areas in Anambra by Friday.

“We hired five trucks to enable us to achieve the distribution of the materials, but for the sensitive materials, that will be concluded by next Friday,” he said

He said that the sensitive materials would be brought from the Central Bank of Nigeria to INEC office on Thursday, adding that the distribution to local government areas would be done on Friday.

The INEC official, on the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs,  said that the commission was impressed with the rate owners of the PVCs were collecting them.

“Before, we received the more than 180, 000 PVCs from our headquarters after the completion of the 2018 continuous voters registration, we had more than 120, 000 uncollected cards.

“This brings it to more than 300,000 the number of uncollected cards, but today the number has reduced significantly.’’

He said that available information to his office showed that many people were collecting their cards on a daily basis.

Nkedife ascribed the success in the PVCs distribution to intensified sensitization and mobilisation by INEC, traditional rulers, media, political parties, the National Orientation Agency among others.

He, however, called on those yet to collect their cards to ensure they do so before February 8.

‘Nkedife stressed, “After Feb.8, all uncollected cards will be returned to INEC office, Awka till the end of the general elections.”
