Nigeria Decides- Former governor of Oyo state, His Excellency. Sen. Rashidi Ladoja has described the presidential and national assembly elections as peaceful.

He made this remark in his Bodija residence, Ibadan, where he had a brief chat with our reporters.

"Today, where I cast my vote was very peaceful and orderly. People queued in lines in an organised manner to dutifully cast their votes without fear of intimidation. The voters' turnout was equally very massive and unprecedented. Everyone put up good behaviour and there was no case of ballot boxes snatching or any form of violence. I learnt this is what obtained in other parts of the state as well, and I am glad about it. This is good for our democracy and we must commend the people of Oyo state for this peaceful conduct.”

He added further; “We must also commend INEC too for the efforts to give a credible poll. Although I reliably gathered that there were cases of malfunctioning card readers and late arrival of elections materials in some quarters; but that did not forestall the exercise. INEC can always improve on this.”

He asserted that if the efforts can be improved on come March 9th for the gubernatorial and state assembly elections, then people should expect a free, fair and credible elections.

Regarding security, the former Governor said: "The security men must not be left out. They must also be commended too for their up and doing to keep lives and property safe.

He commended the people of Oyo state for their peaceful conduct so far. While urging them to continue to be peaceful and orderly, he appealed to them to come out en mass in the next elections .
