British Prince Harry Visits Angola

From Luanda, the Capital of Angola, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that Prince Harry of British Royal Family is in Angola to visit mine clearance projects run by the same charity backed by his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

The visit will include a stop in Southern Angolan town of Cuito Cuanavale believed to be the most heavily mined town in Africa. The town which has over 43,000 inhabitants was reported to have suffered heavy mining activities and attack during Angola civil war, as work continues to make it safe for residents continues till now.

While informing journalists about the prince’s visit, the Chief Executive of Halo Trust Charity, Guy Willoughby spoke about other places the prince will visit. “Prince Harry is visiting a number of demining teams across the region and will be touring minefields and meeting with beneficiaries of Halo’s work.”

Sources said Halo has removed and destroyed 21,300 anti-personnel and anti-tank mines from the area so far, with its efforts steadily moving out from the town centre to areas farther afield.

More than 650 Angolans works for the organization which focused on four provinces in the country; Benguela, Bie, Huambo and Kuando Kubango.

The Charity also declared that each land cleared benefits 11 families directly and 59 indirectly
