German Bundesliga giants Schalke 04 are reportedly leading the chase for Super Eagles midfielder Babatunde Michael.

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is willing to listen to offers for Babatunde’s Nigeria teammate Mikel Obi to fund his remaining transfer plans.

Jose Mourinho is prepared to sell midfield pair Ramires and John Obi Mikel.

According to africanfootball.com, Schalke have tabled a four-year deal for the 21-year-old Ukraine-based attacker, who represented Nigeria at Brazil 2014 World Cup.

Babtunde’s World Cup run was cut short by a wrist fracture he suffered in the final Group F match against Argentina on June 25. The 1978 and 1986 world champions won the encounter 3-2.

Two clubs from Turkey and one from France are also said to be targeting the versatile player, who still has two years left on his contract at Volyn Lutsk. However, the Ukrainian outfit are said to be willing to sell the gifted player for $3m.

The former Heartland star joined Volyn Lutsk from Ukrainian Premier League rivals Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih last year, after the latter were declared bankrupt.

“There have been interest in the player with the most serious said to be coming from Schalke 04,” africanfootball.com quoted unnamed Babatunde’s representative as saying on Wednesday.

“They have tabled a four-year contract, which we are now studying.

“Two clubs in Turkey and another in France have also indicated their interest in the player.

“We just have to wait and see how things develop.”

Chelsea have already spent £60m this summer on former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona and Diego Costa from current La Liga champions Atletico Madrid but Mourinho wants more strength in his midfield.

According to the London Evening Standard Chelsea are prepared to listen to offers for Mikel and Brazil’s Ramires to sign other players
