Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (SOLAN), Oyo state gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Party (ADP) has frown at the rumour taking hold of news stands claiming that Engr. Seyin Makinde has been adopted as the Consensus candidate for the March 9 governorship poll.
In a Press release signed by Damola Adeoye, media assistant to Senator Lanlehin and made available to CEOAfrica, the Sen. without missing words call on his supporters, party members and Oyo state to ignore the rumour, stressing that no consensus candidate has been adopted.
The release reads “Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (SOLAN), Oyo State ADC governorship candidate, wishes to inform supporters, loyalists, members of the ADC, and the very good people of Oyo State, that as a democrat and committed party man, the interest of Oyo state and its people is paramount to him.
“To that end, he wishes to allay whatever fears that are being nursed, owing to the seeming lull occasioned by the ongoing coalition talks, urging the people to also discountenance every insinuation concerning the purported adoption of a coalition candidate”
He noted that although meeting is still ongoing but the fact remains that no consensus candidate had emerged to challenge the fascist ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
“Yet as promising as the talks are, no candidate has been adopted.”
The ADC guber candidate added that “decisions as to the adoption of a coalition candidate, when eventually arrived at, will be done by mutual consent and not by blackmail or mischief and same appropriately communicated”
CEOAfrica, earlier reported that the Zenith Labour Party also dismissed the rumoured consensus candidate, but has the wiliness to merge with willing parties to oust the APC.
