Floods in Uganda
CEOAFRICA.com gathered from Sudan that heavy downpour which resulted to flood has wrecked a lot of havoc in Khartoum.
It was discovered that more than 15 people have been killed, and at least 100,000 rendered homeless with over 20,000 houses destroyed.
Meanwhile, another flood disaster occurred in Uganda’s border town of Elegu as a result of nearby river which overflows its boundary following hours of torrential rainfall.
The flood destroyed many local bars, lodges and markets, with many people’s businesses affected.
One of the victims, Moses Okello, who owned rental houses in the town, expressed his ordeal that he had nothing to salvage from the flood. “There is no way now. We are stuck. We are nowhere to start,” he said.
Also, another victim whose bar and lodges got submerged, Sarah Ninsiima, said she had no roof over her head and wondered what she would do next.
"That day I wanted to go to another place, we were told this place usually floods during rainy season. I heard people screaming that the floods were coming, only to realize the water was knee high and it was on the beds," said Ninsiima.
The flood, according to sources, have heightened fears of Cholera outbreak as all the pit latrines were washed away and have to use bushes as toilets.
Weather reporters have predicted more heavy rains in October.
