Oyo Police arrests OPC members for robbery

"All days for thief, one day for the owner" appropriately describes the arrest of some members of Odua People’s Congress who were arrested for suspected armed robbery on 29th June 2014 at about 11:00pm around Molete area of Ibadan robbed a motorcyclist of his motorcycle.

At about 11:00pm of 29th June 2014, a two-man gang of armed robbers, whose names are: Rasheed Adedokun and Ridwan Suliamon stopped a commercial motorcyclist riding a Bajaj motorcycle at Oja- Oba area Ibadan, to take them to challenge area of Ibadan, but on getting to Molete area, Rasheed Adedokun under the pretence that he wants to urinate asked the motorcyclist to stop.

As soon as the motorcycle was put to a stop, the other pillion rider, Ridwan Suliamon pulled out a gun and pointed it at the motorcyclist, who in fear released his motorcycle to them. As the hoodlums were about to escape with the motorcycle, the victim raised an alarm and the said Rasheed Adedokun was apprehended with the help of the public.

Oyo State Commissioner of Police Mohammed Indabawa, speaking with the correspondents of CEOAFRICA said that  the case which was reported at Felele Division was later transferred to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Ibadan for further investigation.

Further diligent investigation later led to the arrest of the second suspect, Ridwan Suliamon who fled from the robbery scene on the 5th of July 2014, alongside Idowu Adekola who is one of the robbery gang.

"We are members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), this is not our first time of using the mode of operation to dispossess commercial motorcyclists of their motorcycles" they said.

However the CP assures the general public that the suspects will soon be charged to court to face the consequences of their offence.
