The importance of knowledge acquisition as a veritable tool for societal development can not be underestimated if the country must come out of it present quagmire. This remark was made today in an exclusive interview  with  Professor Peter Olapegba the current  Dean of Faculty of the Social Sciences, University of Ibadan.
The professor of psychology who is the guest lecturer at today’s 447th inaugural lecture in the University of Ibadan will be delivering on the topic: "THAT I MAY KNOW".  This according to him implies the quest for knowledge. He hypes on the urgent need to place high premium on education as a means to liberate our society from the many vices confronting us.   “Through education, the people are liberated and free to maximize resources to their full potentials. Man by nature is wired with zeal to seek knowledge because knowledge gives the capacity to explore and sustain the environment. Through knowledge therefore, man has been able to create a conducive environment for people to  succeed in their  different facets of life.” He said.


While lamenting the poor state of our universities in Nigeria, the erudite professor  blamed it on successive government who he said only give  lip services to education. He emphasise the need for education both at formal and informal sectors to be well developed to it full capacity of knowledge driven by technology and service to propel our growth and development. This would in essence  create the society that every one seek for.
The inaugural lecture which is scheduled for 5pm today 28th of March, 2019 at the International Conference Center , University of Ibadan has promised to be very interesting by the guest lecturer Professor Peter Olapegba. It is expected to be attended by scholars and dignitaries from all works of live as everyone really would like to know more.
