The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr John Opara has given Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi a pat in the back for making “a lot of improvements” to the State in the areas of infrastructure and education within the last one year.

The Commission’s boss gave the commendation during a sensitization visit to Ekiti State ahead of the 2013 holy pilgrimage to Jerusalem; saying that the State has worn a new transformed look with the many road construction projects across the State.

Opara who stressed that he was not a politician to sing the praise of Fayemi for any gain added that the Governor has not only been able to make great improvements in the State but has done it in an impartial manner which has brought hope to the grassroots.

“I must say that the Lord did not make any mistake. At a time like this, He brought a man like you and your leadership style inspires me a lot. On a few occasions, when I see you comment on national issues, you always let people know your mind regardless of whether it is A or B. it is quite commendable. As I was driving down here, I saw a lot of improvements.

The road constructions you are doing here and there and the health care facilities and other things you are doing touching lives. I watched you on a TV station recently encouraging people in the area of education. Please keep it up. I am a not a politician you know. If it is not there, I will say it. I am a child of GOD and I will always say what is. You are not selective about what you are doing but you are bringing hope to the downtrodden. That is why the Lord brought you”, Opara said.

He said this year’s pilgrimage is focused on building new societal and moral values so as to transform the country for peace and development.

In his remarks, Governor Fayemi attributed the development and peace enjoyed in the State to God’s handiwork and people’s trust in his administration; saying that Ekiti people are a people of faith.

The Governor assured that the State Government would work with the NCPC in making pilgrimage a tool for moral transformation so that the country could be free and more prosperous.
