AIG Oyebade commends Oyo CP, says Community Policing is solution to effective security

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 11, AIG Adeleye Oyebade has lauded the Oyo state Commissioner of Police, C.P Shina Olukolu for his effort in seeing that community policing reaches the grassroots levels, saying that community policing is the main key to proactive policing in securing lives and properties.

The AIG in his one-day working familiarization tour on Wednesday at the Oyo state Police headquarter, Eleyele, Ibadan, also revealed that the establishment of the Zonal Security Stakeholders’ Forum has been authorized by Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu.

According to AIG Oyebade, the forum is the grassroots security agency which the members of the populace can have direct access to when there is need for security alertness and emergence.

Adding that the Zonal Security Stakeholders’ Forum is an embodiment of stakeholders across every sector in the community.

Sequel to this authorization, AIG Oyebade, however urged the members of the police force to discharge their duties with worthy patriotism.

He emphatically affirmed that it will be mortification for police officers to have connivance in any form of extortion and double-dealing, having known that it’s against the foresight of The Federal Republic of Nigeria’s President, who also doubled up as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

“While discharging your duties, you must eschew all forms of corrupt practices. This is because as you are aware, the Force has zero tolerance for corruption.” He added.

AIG Oyebade confirmed that all the inadequacies that could warrant such misconduct will be attended to, as salaries and allowances will be paid in due time, and promotion will be enjoyed when need be.

“The IGP is doing all within his power to better your lot and address challenges currently facing the force.”AIG Oyebade assures .

While fielding questions from CEOAfrica, the Oyo state Chairman of Police Community Relation Commission (PCRC), Reverend Peter Omotoye inarguably affirmed that “Security is the business of everybody...Every citizenry in Nigeria is part of security.”  

He further stated that, “the Zonal Security Stakeholders’ Forum is an enlargement of PCRC. It is a collective responsibility, the people should corporate with the police, watch their neighbours, study the person you are walking with, and give adequate information to the police, he added.

It is worthy to note that AIG Oyebade  who was the former Commissioner of Police Oyo State, assumed the office of AIG Zone 11 comprising of Ondo, Osun and Oyo on 11th February, 2019 prior to the 2019 general election, and has since then been a strong pillar to the present state CP in the fight against crime and promotion of Community policing.
