A Nyeri inhabitant on Thursday morning stabbed to death a bandit who attempted to rape her inside her shop.

According to police, two bandits invaded the shop in the short hours of the morning and hid items at a proximal bush.

Neighbours alerted and the woman’s husband dashed to the shop to engage in combat with the criminals.

The hoodlums ran in different directions. The woman returning to her shop, she was assaulted by one of the bandits who was hiding at the nearby bushes.

This emanated a struggle, and the woman reached for a knife and stabbed the bandit by the neck.

The wounded man tried to escape. But he collapsed and passed away a few metres from the shop.

Nyeri Central deputy sub-county police commander, Bernard Amugune said officers were still probing the scene.

“It is true there was such an incident this morning. We are still processing the information but we will release the details later,” he was quoted by a local daily.

The stolen items were recovered and the body of the deceased was taken to the Nyeri County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
