Egypt denounces on Sunday evening the assault of insurgents in the west of Iraq's city of Mosul where a bomb-laden car murdered and injured several people earlier in the day, the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement on Sunday evening.

The foreign ministry's statement expressed Egypt's sympathy to the victims' families and wished the speedy recovery to the wounded.

The statement also expressed Egypt's total harmony as a government and people with Iraq's people and government.

The statement renewed "Egypt's firm stance on the need to confront all forms of terrorism, violence and extremism; to drain sources of finance and support for terrorism; as well as preventing the provision of safe havens to terrorists."
