The National Union of Road Transport Workers’ president, Alhaji Najeem Yasin, had on Monday regretted the dissolution of the union’s activities in Oyo State.

Yasin said the union would plead to the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to take a second look at the proscription order.

Makinde had on Friday dissolved the activities of NURTW in the state following reported security violation and violence unleashed in some motor parks by rival union members.

Yasin said the National Executive Council of the union would meet with the state governor.

The plan is contained in a statement Yasin issued from Saudi Arabia, where he is observing Umrah (lesser hajj), to mark the end of this year’s Ramadan.

Meanwhile, 29 of its members were also paraded by the Oyo State Police Command on Monday, at the Police Headquarters in Eleyele.

CP Shina Olukolu had said they were apprehended for allegedly breaching security conduct, and unleashing terror in order to disturb peace of the public.
