Operatives of Operation Puff Adder, Zone XI of the Nigeria Police reportedly said they have apprehended the operator and three others of a discovered slave camp, masqueraded as Quranic School.

Parading the suspects at Zone XI headquarters, Osogbo, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Adeleye O. Oyegbade said it is essential for police to prevent actions which could be harmful to the sanctity of human life.

The AIG attested that the suspects, namely: Alfa Mojeed Oyelami and his accomplices, Mohammed Gazali, Mutiu Abdulakeem and Ajayi Segun were apprehended at Kehinsi, Compound, Ita Baale, Beyeruka area, Ibadan by the Zonal Operation Puff Adder acting on credible intelligence that the unregistered Quranic school, harboured no fewer than 45 Islamic students that were kept and been subjected to the most excruciating, inhuman and degrading treatment.

“The frail and malnourished students who revealed their harrowing experience in a squalid environment that could best be described as a pig sty, were often locked up like prisoners in cell-rooms where they ate and defecate.

“They were poorly fed, and were denied access to medical treatment. They were also frequently given corporal punishment.

“Intelligence gathered also revealed that some of the female students were often subjected to all forms of sexual abuses including defilement.

“Consequent upon intelligence on the illicit activities of the school, operatives of the Zonal Operation Puff Adder swooped on it and rescued the victims who had been deprived of their personal liberty through unlawfully detention.

“The distraught victims who have been subjected to emotional trauma and psychological torture are currently undergoing post traumatic examination. The juvenile among them were after liberation, taken to the Juvenile Welfare Home, Ibadan for rehabilitation”.

Adeleye asserted the commitment of his Zone to fight crimes with unprecedented vigour, and uncommon patriotism adding that “we are resolutely committed to providing an enabling environment conducive for peace and for the political and socio-cultural development of the Zone comprising of Oyo, Ondo and Osun states”.
