Mogul journalist, Mohammed Juma dies

Radio journalist mogul, Mohammed Juma Njuguna has been reported to be dead on Saturday morning at a Nairobi hospital after suffering a long illness.

Until his demise, the journalist mogul was working as a content producer at Radio Citizen, owned by Royal Media Services.

Juma was also a soccer commentator with over 40 years experience in the broadcasting industry.

His sterling career which dates back to the early 70s saw him experienced in broadcasting from a qualified radio presenter, TV producer, newscaster and a soccer commentator.

He started his career with the then Voice of Kenya (VOK), now Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, (KBC), in 1970 as a radio producer before becoming a news editor.

While at KBC, Juma was trained in news reading for both radio and television.

His voice has been of similitude with soccer commentary over the years and the popular phrase “Kadenge na Mpira” has long been identified with him.

He received a Head of State commendation (HSC) in 2010, in recognition of his exemplary contribution to broadcasting and soccer commentary.
