Boko Haram insurgence has been said to have allegedly assaulted a military base in Kareto, a community in Mobba Local Government Area of Borno State, which left six Nigerian soldiers dead.

It was reportedly gathered that, the terrorist group carried out the assault late evening on Thursday.

The insurgents were said to have pounced on the military base on motorbikes, and allegedly murdered the commanding officer of 158 battalion, and another five soldiers.

Reports claimed that “many soldiers” were still missing as at Friday morning.

Meanwhile, Boko Haram on Friday said through its news agency, Amaq, that, it was behind the assault.

The insurgents group admitted it murdered more than 20 soldiers during the assault.

However Nigerian Army is yet to react to the alleged assault and it’s not the first time reports have emanated as regards deaths of Nigerians troops, from assaults by the group, which the government claims has been ‘technically’ defeated.
