The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) will on Monday, 15th July, 2019 commence its final outdoor exercise for cadets in the academy.
The exercise for the cadets of 66 Regular Course (Army), 67 Regular Course (Navy and Air Force) and Short Service Course 45 (Army) will take place at Hepang and Shere Hills, Jos, Plateau State and the tactical phase in Kontagora in Niger State.
The final outdoor exercise designed to test cadet’s leadership qualities, endurance, map reading, command and control capabilities among other military competencies will come to an end by 1st of August, 2019.
In the course of the 3 weeks exercise, NDA will embark on various Civic-Military Cooperation activities to includes, commissioning of boreholes, distributing of free learning materials to students in selected public schools as well as free medical outreach and battle inoculation which includes live firing of small arms and artillery weapons will be conducted within the general exercise area in Kontagora, Niger state.
Communities living around Hepang and Shere Hills in Plateau are not to panic on seeing mass movement of military personnel, vehicle and equipments and similarly, residents of Bodori, Dogon Fadama, Maraban Masuga in Kontagora, Niger state will observe same movement in the course of the final outdoor exercise for the cadets.
‘’We wish to appeal for cooperation from local communities that would be affected by the exercise and Nigerians as a whole as we train future military leaders for Nigeria’’, the Academy PRO, Major Abubakar Abdullahi said.
Major Abubakar, however, advised the people in the aforementioned areas that they should continue their normal daily routine accordingly and report any breach of security to the nearest authority.
